What I Love About Working In Audio: Abbie Harding – Marketing
As part of Love Audio Week we've asked some of our team here at Whole Story Audiobooks to tell us what they love about audiobooks, and what they enjoy most about working in the industry.
Marketing Assistant Abbie Harding on what she loves most about working in audio...
Why do you like audio as a format?
Audiobooks are a lifeline for me when I have little time to read as I can listen to them on the commute. Right now, I’m listening to The Canal Boat Café by Cressida McLaughlin. It’s read by Jessica Anne Ball, who has a clear and lovely voice. She’s one of my favourite narrators.
What do you do in a typical day?
I begin my day at 8:30 a.m. with a big cup of tea and then I tackle my inbox full of emails. Always learning new things, my role as a marketing assistant is nothing short of a juggling act but I love the busyness and the varied nature of my day. My daily activities range from giving creative input on marketing campaigns to content creation, social media strategy and creating web banners.
I also oversee the creation of the quarterly new releases brochures, which involves liaising with multiple departments to produce a beautiful end-product that our sales teams can take into libraries to showcase our titles.
What do you love about working in audio?
The best thing is that it’s my job to get stuck in when it comes to creating content that encourages library members to borrow eAudiobooks and eBooks. Most recently our Click Get Go campaign is designed to encourage library members to use the Rbdigital app, which provides library members with free access to eAudiobooks, eBooks and eMagazines. It’s important that books and audiobooks are accessible to everyone, and libraries provide the means for that.
